Instructor Mr Brian Page and son Brennen Page first began training in Tae Kwon-Do over 20 years ago when they joined the Hereford Club together with Mrs Tina Page (Brian’s wife) and daughter Syanna.
It took about 3 ½ years of quite hard training under the tuition of Mr Jon Stockwell, 4th Dan but eventually they were all ready to face that terrifying day - the Black Belt Grading.
If you think you know what being nervous is, just try standing up in front of Grand Master Hee Il Cho and remembering anything you have learned in Tae Kwon-Do ! Something must have sunk in however, because they all passed with flying colours, and later received their AIMAA certificates from Grand Master Cho. Although not verified, it is believed that this was the first time that a whole family has graded and passed their 1st Dan at the same time, anywhere in the World (if anyone knows of any other Martial Art families, please let us know), and
they were all minor celebrities for a short time in the UK Tae Kwon-Do scene; being featured on radio and interviewed for local papers.

Brennen and Brian acquired the Abergavenny Club about 13 years ago and quickly developed their own style of teaching in a relaxed and fun atmosphere. It is important to them that not only does everyone develop at their own pace without getting left behind, but that the experience should be an enjoyable one. Brian believes “ every Student is an individual and it’s vital not to loose track of this. Everyone will at some stage require personal tuition, so we tend to direct our attention to where it is most needed; breaking the class down into smaller and smaller groups, even as far as 1 to 1, until we are satisfied everyone is moving forward at roughly the same pace. Sounds easy, but it’s a fine balancing act to pull off without neglecting the rest of your Students. We like to see the whole class ready to grade at the same time and work hard to achieve this.
Mr Page has temporarily taken a ‘back seat’ after a lengthy illness left him unable to continue training properly. He is now however starting to return to training regularly and becoming more
active in the Club again. He remains dedicated to Tae Kwon-Do and the Club and contributes in many ways, not least of which was this web site.
The Club is now run by Mr Brennen Page, 4th Dan and assisted by Mr Daniel Nation, 3rd Dan (Dan also runs the Leominster Club). Daniel was the first Black Belt to qualify under the tuition of Mr Page Snr.
They make a great team and are pleased to be taking the Clubs forward and upwards with their own ever increasing skills and dedication to the Art.
